I can never decide which I love more, the plants or painting the plants. I tend to go back and forth, depending on the season. But thankfully I have both, and after spending the day painting the shine on a delicate petal or the edge of a crumbling leaf, I can then head out to the garden, grab my grubby trowel, and get my hands in the dirt.
And this is what I do, I paint and I garden. Well, if that was all I did it would be quite heavenly but also a bit lonely. So it balances well with the rest of my life - I'm a mother of two incredible young boys, I'm married to a dear man and artist, Marc, and we have a busy life with the kids-house-cooking-managing-it-all kind of thing.
I started my love of the arts by earning my university degree in Art History but soon after realized that I needed to make art, not study it! I've been painting and drawing and making ever since. I work with acrylic paint, watercolours and coloured pencils and do large pieces on wood panels, as well as small works on paper. I've painted many subjects over the years, but the plants have kept my attention like nothing else has. They connect me to this planet of ours and mirror life so well that they're an endless source of inspiration for me.
I have been selling my paintings online for three years, as well as participating in local art shows. I have been a contributor to Taproot magazine where my artwork has been published four times (in issues 8,9,10 and 15) and have also done several personal commissions for clients.
